Bursa Malaysia has three boards, and where a company lists tells you a lot about its size, maturity, and how its IPO is likely to trade.
Main Market
Larger, profitable, established companies. Stricter listing requirements (profit track record or market-cap tests). IPOs tend to be bigger and steadier.
ACE Market
Growth companies, and the majority of Malaysian IPOs. Sponsor-driven admission with lighter requirements. Historically bigger first-day pops and more volatility.
LEAP Market
Sophisticated investors only; the public cannot apply. Out of scope for retail IPO investing.
Why the board matters to you
- ACE IPOs are usually smaller offers. Scarcity can amplify demand and the first-day move in both directions.
- Main Market IPOs often come with institutional and cornerstone participation that anchors the price.
- Listing requirements differ, so "listed on Main" itself carries information about the company's track record.
