The IPO timeline: key dates

Exposure, open, close, balloting, listing. What each date means and what to do at each one.

Every IPO runs on a published schedule. Knowing what each date means keeps you from missing the window, or misreading the news.

Prospectus exposure
The draft prospectus sits on the SC's website for public comment, often weeks before anything else. The earliest signal an IPO is coming.
Launch / registration
The prospectus is registered and final terms (price, structure, dates) are locked.
Offer opens
Applications are accepted from today. Usually open for one to two weeks.
Offer closes
Last day (often 5pm) to apply. Applications after this don't exist.
Balloting
The issuing house draws the ballot and publishes the oversubscription rate, the single most-watched demand number.
Allotment
Successful applicants get shares credited to CDS; the rest get refunds.
Listing day
The stock starts trading. The first-day open versus the offer price is the headline result.
Never miss a date

Members get email alerts when a watchlisted IPO opens, ballots, or is about to list.
